— Rapper, songwriter, and record executive, Curren$y, drops Pilot Talk 4 — the fourth installment in his acclaimed Pilot Talk series.
Few men work harder than New Orleans native and living legend, Curren$y. Still, with a label to run and deals to make, he makes more than enough time for music. Starting this year’s run with February’s Collection Agency and continuing through November with his 5-track Cash Fargo-produced EP, Land Air Sea, the seasoned veteran isn’t quite done yet. Just before the end of the holiday season, Curren$y decides to drop his eighth official project this year, Pilot Talk 4.
Pilot Talk 4, despite being a 10-track 27-minute EP, carries the weight of an expensive hour-long major label album. Much of this can be credited to its rich production, handled entirely by legendary Hip-Hop producer Ski Beatz — the primary producer for every Pilot Talk album dating back to 2010. Leaning on his own talent, as well as the chemistry he’s built with Curren$y over the years, Ski Beatz put together an unbelievable collection of beats led by jazz-influenced saxophone melodies, spine-chilling bass grooves, and gripping percussion cadences that will allow Pilot Talk 4 to be so highly ranked.
As usual, Curren$y comes through and delivers an inimitable performance on every track with the help of his unrivaled pen, signature sedated flow, and opulent presentation. Lucky for us, he decided to showcase his lyrical talents over this brilliantly produced project almost entirely by himself aside from a feature from fellow New Orleans spitter, Jay Electronica.
While there’s really no weak spots on Pilot Talk 4, tracks like “Big Game Fishing”, “AD6”, “There It Is”, “Workers and Bosses”, “Memory Lane”, and “Finger Roll” stood out most upon first listen.
