— Hip-Hop Legend, Nas, follows up his Grammy-nominated album King’s Disease II with a 9-track EP titled, Magic produced by Hit-Boy.

Nas’s place in Hip-Hop history as one of the greatest acts to grab a mic is firmly cemented and that isn’t debatable. Still, the label executive and investor continues to be one of Hip-Hop’s greatest active lyricists and proves it time and time again with stellar albums. First re-establishing himself as a top-tier artist with 2020’s King’s Disease and subsequent Grammy win, Nas showed it was no fluke with this year’s critically-acclaimed King’s Disease II. Now, just before the new year, Nas gifts us with a concise new project titled, Magic, that further validates his return to rare form.

Produced entirely by Hit-Boy, Magic was destined to be a gem from the start. As arguably the best Hip-Hop producer in the game right now, Hit-Boy produced both King’s Disease albums and is also credited on prominent new work from Big Sean, Dom Kennedy, Don Toliver, Benny the Butcher, and tons more. In masterful fashion, Hit-Boy went in his bag and found a collection of beats that each have their own distinctly unique qualities that can stand alone as their own captivating instrumentals, but can also perfectly compliment Nas’s ubiquitous flow.

With Hit-Boy delivering audio gold on the production end, Nas had no choice but to come correct. Similarly to his latest works, Nas continues to rap on a different plane than that of his counterparts on Magic. Track after track, the Queens, NY native and Hip-Hop legend makes short work of every beat placed in front of him while recruiting features for only one track, “Wave Gods” featuring A$AP Rocky and longtime collaborator DJ Premier.

In all honesty, between Hit-Boy’s entrancing production and Nas’s masterful lyricism, wordplay, and philosophizing, Magic is a no-skip kind of project. But, if you’re looking for a go-to single, you can’t go wrong with “Wave Gods”.
