— Mississippi-bred lyricist Alvin G enlists Ghanian rapper Foggieraw for his latest single, “Sonrise” and its Sister Act 2 inspired visual.
If you hadn’t heard by now, Alvin G is definitely an artist to watch for. Over the past year, he’s used his incredible gift of gab, vibrant personality, and fearless creativity to deliver a bevy of notable projects, singles, and visuals — even making an appearance on our very own More Bars Please series. Now, following the release of his Valentine’s Day single, “Put It Down”, Alvin G has teamed up with Ghanian rapper Foggieraw for their inspirational new song, “Sonrise”, and its nostalgic music video.
“Sonrise” opens with a profound sound bite from the one and only Lauryn Hill over an angelic instrumental before Alvin G takes center stage. He proceeds to step into his kingliness as he drops heavy gems while showcasing his clever wordplay, captivating flows, and overall lyrical superiority. Singers Jayizms and Ashley Tate then flexed their vocal talents as they serenaded us through the bridge of the track in perfect harmony setting the stage for Foggieraw to deliver his much-needed verse in his signature smooth and laid-back approach.
The music video, shot by Ben Tyler, recreated the cult classic 1993 film, Sister Act 2. Everything from the classroom hi-jinks to the playground freestyle session was captured flawlessly with excellent framing, perfect casting, and elite virtual storytelling from start to finish.
