— Beaumont, Texas’s own, Big Jade, debuts her first single of 2022 titled, “Eat” featuring Houston legend, Z-Ro, with an emphatic new music video.
Coming out of a small city to become one of Texas’s most promising rappers, Big Jade is undoubtedly driven by her insatiable hunger for success. Still, following her critically-acclaimed breakout album, Pressure, the rising star is sick of starving — made clear in her latest single, “Eat”, and its music video that have united her with Z-Ro, a legend of the Texas rap scene.
“Eat” is equipped with everything that an emphatic anthem needs, complete with cinematic strings, dramatic pianos, and trunk-shaking Texas-style percussion courtesy of credited producers, Ayo Bleu, Rando, and JohnGotIt. Beaumont-bred Big Jade then proceeds to match the unrelenting energy of the production with an authoritative verse assuring that her status in the streets is secure with or without music with the opening line,
“We runnin’ out of options, stay the f*ck up out that gossip,
‘cause they knowin’ how I’m comin’ if we run into a problem.”
Z-Ro then follows up on the hook and second verse, lends his golden pipes and veteran presence, and demonstrates why he’s one of the Lone Star state’s best emcees as he combines his thunderous melody with proof that his wild-eyed intensity hasn’t diminished with age as he raps,
“I ain’t gon’ be the old n*gga talkin’ bout what he didn’t do.
Imma be the old n*gga talkin, let’s hit a lick or two’.”
In the music video, Jade and Z-Ro host an H-Town gathering in a city park, filled with customized cars with swangers and neon-lit messages in their popped trunks, mirroring Jade’s video for her 2021 standout single, “Dem Girlz”, featuring BeatKing and Erica Banks.
With her debut album under her belt and so much higher to climb, Big Jade appears to have absolutely no plans of resting on her laurels — rightfully so after commanding attention out the gate the way she did and earning high praise from major publications like, Stereogum, Pitchfork, UPROXX, and Lyrical Lemonade just to name a few.
