— South Florida icon, Ace Hood, drops his new music video for “At War” off his latest project, the critically acclaimed M.I.N.D. EP.
Ace Hood has come a long way since his days of collecting platinum plaques, dropping top ten albums, and collaborating with the superstars of the time. However, the Broward County native has become a champion in a whole new lane as he continues to rival some of Hip-Hop’s biggest stars in quality of music, influence, streams, and sales as an independent artist. Now, after dropping a successful run of projects throughout the pandemic and releasing the very well-received M.I.N.D. EP back in February, Ace Hood now drops its second music video for the track, “At War”.
The music video, directed by Alex Heider, follows Ace Hood as he walks through the hallowed halls of a cathedral and makes it known that the war he’s waging is no miniscule matter and one grounded in his beliefs. Flanked by his own personal militia, Ace gets heavy as he spits intense bars like, “The government is going to play their hand, but they gon’ sugar coat it, but cops beating up the ones who got they freedom stolen” — only slowing the tempo for his melodic hook lined with more deep lyrics, complimented by a ballerina dancing to match the pace.
The visual being shot in this vast and elegant cathedral, the distinct contrast between the rigid military presence and the graceful ballerina, and the beautiful framing and composition all contribute to this undeniably compelling product.
