— Rappers G Herbo, Kenny Mason, and Timothy Isaiah perform live to cap off Cxmmunity Media’s esports, music, and networking conference, The Kickback.
Presented by Cxmmunity Media and their partners, Riot Games and Prime Gaming, The Kickback is an entertainment, media, and educational platform with digital and live events that aims to drive lasting change across the HBCU and gaming community.
Their latest event, held at Atlanta’s historic Tabernacle concert venue, was a huge success and, after a long day of networking with like-minded individuals, gaining knowledge from insightful panel discussions, and enjoying some compelling video game tournaments, The Kickback turned its attention to the mainstage as Hip-Hop took over the building.
The first artist to perform was West Palm Beach native, Timothy Isaiah. This up-and-coming talent has been on quite the run. Recently performing live at prominent local events like Shaking the Culture Festival and Atlanta’s Juneteenth Festival, The Kickback was next on his hit list and he surely didn’t hold back. Deploying his veteran-like stage presence and unquestionable knack for live performance, Timothy Isaiah undoubtedly left the venue with even more devoted fans and followers than he came with.
Next up was Atlanta’s own Kenny Mason. As he currently experiences his own meteoric rise, it was great to see him back in his hometown showing love and appreciation to the city that raised him. It was also great to see the city show the same love back as the mutual exchange of energy filled the room, only making Kenny’s set that much more dynamic. Setting the tone early by opening with a fan-favorite, “Hit,” the rising star further cemented his greatness by not only putting on a stellar performance, but by also showcasing his incredibly unique musical range. To end it all off, Kenny Mason made the building shake with his mosh-pit inducing hit single, “Stick,” from Dreamville’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, also featuring J. Cole, JID, and Sheck Wes.
As the grand finale, one of Chicago’s biggest, brightest, and most talented Hip-Hop artists, G Herbo, hit the stage. As fans rushed back to their spots after getting hydrated at the bar, G Herbo greeted the audience with genuine excitement, even calling Atlanta his second home and shouting out his usual Atlanta ambassadors, Young Thug and Gunna.
Herbo proceeded to move the crowd with some of his hottest joints including “Everything,” “Swervo,” and even his acclaimed verse on Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke??” while also bringing out Cleveland’s Doe Boy to perform “Mini Vans.”
One highlight of the night was when Herbo brought a fan on stage to perform with him after realizing he was reciting his lyrics word for word. Although the fan got a little long-winded and Herbo had a little trouble getting his mic back, he was an incredibly great sport, let him have his moment, and simply had fun with it.
All in all, the show was flawless and it was a great way to wrap up an incredibly impactful and eventful day. With so much knowledge being exchanged, relationships being built, and, quite frankly, fun being had — for absolutely no cost might I add — The Kickback was an amazing experience.
