— The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and ASCAP, proudly announce the 2nd annual national search for the BMAC x Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant Awardee.
In 2023, In honor of their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and after a national search, BMAC announced the annual BMAC x Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant for an emerging Black music producer or songwriter. BMAC, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis chose emerging songwriter/artist, Mondaii, as the 2023 Grant Recipient.
The yearly award provides grant money, studio time and mentorship from BMAC Board and Executive Leadership Council Members as well as Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
Applications for the 2024 BMAC x Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Grant went live on Wednesday, November 15th and will run through Thursday, November 30, 2023. You can apply at the official BMAC website.
Applications are open to emerging Black music producers and songwriters from across the U.S.
The 2024 Winner will be announced in December at a special event presented by BMAC and Jimmy Jammy & Terry Lewis, and hosted by ASCAP. BMAC leadership and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will announce the 2024 Music Maker Grant and present the honor to the awardee.

The music maker grant and the $5000 funding helped to kick start my career. With the money, I was able to fund the mixing for my latest single Back N Forth. I was also able to pay for a promotional photoshoot for the cover art and allocate a budget of $2000 towards a PR campaign to generate traction towards the single, helping me to land on platforms such as The Source Magazine, Hot New Hip Hop , Nylon Mag, and many more reputable magazines. The whole experience was truly life changing. Prophet, Parlay (Hip-Hop Global Reach Foundation), none other than the legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis all provided ongoing mentorship and.
