— Earl Sweatshirt releases his latest single, “Titanic”, just before the release of his upcoming album, SICK!
It’s been quite a while since we got a project from Odd Future affiliate and Tan Cressida Records founder, Earl Sweatshirt. Following his 2019 EP, Feet of Clay, and subsequent deluxe release, Sweatshirt sightings had been fairly rare until recently. After dropping two singles, “2010” and “Tabula Rasa” in late 2021 Earl is back with a third titled, “Titanic”, just before the January 14th release date of his newest project, SICK!
Courtesy of fellow Tan Cressida member, Black Noi$e, “Titanic” is a master class in music making starting with its wildly innovative production. From first listen you’re immediately spellbound by this futuristic, yet eerie, beat that slowly accelerates in both speed and intensity before Earl Sweatshirt makes short work of it.
In classic Earl Sweatshirt fashion, the young veteran puts on a clinic, delivering a verse that easily sets the tone for the year. Not only does he use his gift of gab and abstract lyrics to get the job done, but he also crafts a unique flow and rhyme scheme that melds perfectly with the captivating otherworldly production.
Earl Sweatshirt’s fifth official project, SICK!, is set to arrive this Friday, January 14th. The 10-track project will contain features from ZelooperZ and Armand Hammer with production by The Alchemist, Black Noi$e, Ancestors, Rob Chambers, Theravada, and Alexander Spit.
Listen to “Titanic” right here or on our “Daily Bread” playlist. Also, follow Earl Sweatshirt on Instagram and Twitter and be sure to check out the full SICK! project this Friday.
