— Two of Atlanta’s most gifted young standouts, Grip and Kenny Mason, set the tone for 2021 with their latest collaboration, “Burning Bush”.
While 2020 was a tough year for many of us, a lot of us found out what we were made of as we fought to remain productive (or even sane). But, with the release of 2 phenomenal projects (Halo and Proboscidea), a feature on the official Madden ‘20 soundtrack , and even a major commercial placement with Bose, Grip has made it clear that his momentum will not be interrupted. So, in preparation for his next album, Grip released 4 tracks in the last days of 2020 — the latest being “Burning Bush” featuring fellow Atlanta-native and rising star, Kenny Mason.
“Burning Bush”, produced by David Emmanuel, starts off with an eerie piano loop just before Grip lets us know he’s coming for necks with his opening line,
“Chip on my shoulder the size of brick or a boulder.
I knew I had the drive back when I was whippin’ Corolla.
I’m still the same nigga even if I dip in a Rover,
tote a pistol, eatin’ a 10-piece chicken sippin’ a soda”.
What follows is a verse so filthy that you’ll still be grimacing after plays one, two, and fifteen.
Following the chorus, which influences the song’s clever title, Kenny Mason comes through with his signature hypnotic flow and makes you feel like you’re riding alongside him due to his vivid imagery and authentic delivery.
With these two on the come up, Atlanta’s Hip-Hop scene is in incredibly good hands. That being said, be sure to follow Grip and Kenny Mason on Instagram to keep up with their most recent moves. Also be sure to listen to all of Grip’s latest loosies as he gears up for an eventful 2021.
