— As promised, East Atlanta’s East Chain Recordings has released their 15-track compilation album, CAMP EAST.
Following the release of their “CAMPFIRE” single and music video, East Chain announced that they had a project coming soon. Well, just a few weeks later, here we are. After deploying one of the most creative and engaging album rollouts Hip-Hop has seen in quite some time, the collective have now released their debut compilation album, CAMP EAST.
As far as collaborative efforts go, CAMP EAST is simply something remarkable. Led by label founders Michael Aristotle and Wili Hendrixs, this eclectic cast of characters found perfect balance and created one of Hip-Hop’s most cohesive and enjoyable compilations to date. A number of producers — including Wili Hendrixs, Mike 24K, Flacko Blanco, HQ Jonez, Reemixloops, Da Kidd Half, and WOAHHEYITSKYLE — contributed to the sound of CAMP EAST which may explain its diverse range in production. Still, this group’s talent and apparent chemistry allowed them to connect the dots in a way that made every track sound like it belonged no matter the content or mood.
Aside from the official roster of lyricists including Michael Aristotle, Wili Hendrixs, Da Kidd Half, HQ Jonez, and Kasey Avenues, East Chain also recruited an all-star cast of frequent collaborators and affiliates to get the job done. Rappers, singers and songwriters Boregard, Shamba, Money Makin’ Nique, Ace Apollo, Casino Life Prez, Salyse, Andy Z6, Yani Mo, Seiko, Sauvi DuVin, Pizar, Jaye Newton, and Jacquebeatz were all a part of making CAMP EAST the incredibly captivating project it is.
If you were looking for just one or two standout tracks, this isn’t that type of album. From the jump, CAMP EAST draws you in with its opening track as it nostalgically simulates a beautiful morning at summer camp before going into the undeniable banger, “On Everything”. After that, the rest is history, keeping the energy sky high on tracks like “Yo Baby Daddy A J”, “Grand Marquis”, “Protect My Vibe”, “Hell Yea”, “Make It Out”, and “Shine On Me”. Though for more somber vibes, the collective showcases their versatility by coming through with tracks like “Bizness”, “GOAT”, “Pin Ups”, “Sneak”, “Fall For It”, and “See It”.
With such an emphatic reemergence, East Chain is poised to cement themselves as one of Atlanta’s greatest collectives to assemble. Their talent, chemistry, creativity, and dedication to uncompromisingly brilliant art across the board leaves them virtually unmatched. Now, all we have to do is wait and see what’s next.
