— Shane Kidd recruits fellow Atlanta rapper, J. Nolan, for the remix and official music video of his 2020 single, “Speed of Life”.
In October of last year, Atlanta-based lyricist Shane Kidd delivered an inspirational single titled, “Speed of Life”, featuring pastor and singer, Lucius. The track serves as a dope message about the adverse effects of anxiety and how slowing down and tuning the world out can be the best remedy. Now, less than a month after the release of “Golden”, his third single of 2021, Shane Kidd calls on prolific wordsmith J. Nolan for the official remix of “Speed of Life”.
Produced by Jonathan Baker, “Speed of Life” opens up with an uplifting piano melody immediately followed by the opening chorus courtesy of Lucius’ soulful vocals. J. Nolan then comes through and does what he does best — drop gems throughout his verse in supernaturally poetic fashion — simultaneously educating and entertaining. Lucius steps back into the picture and delivers a few velvety smooth lines that summarize the entire song as he sings,
“Life is too short, gotta treasure.
Love yours ‘cause ain’t nothing better.
Don’t believe the hype, it’s a setup.
Run your own lane, keep your head up.
Slow down, slow down…”
Shane Kidd then follows up with an impactful verse designed to motivate his listeners to persist despite their hardship, while also understanding that it’s ok to take a break. In essence, he continues to push the mantra “Keep your Pace, Keep your Peace” to help instill tranquility and balance in his listeners’ lives.
The music video, shot by James L. Morgan, exemplifies the song’s message in a straightforward, but evocative way. The visual takes place at a park on what appears to be a bright and sunny fall day and features someone clearing their mind with a workout while the featured artists perform their verses amongst the serene scenery.
