— Sylvester, GA-bred lyricist, Midrange Meats, caps off the year with a new 5-track EP titled, Collard Greens.
Since delivering 229 Worldwide and appearing on episode 12 of our More Bars Please series in 2020, Midrange Meats has only continued to improve with time. While rocking shows throughout the southeast and providing a steady flow of documentary-style content via Instagram, the proud South Georgia native has delivered an early Christmas gift in the form of an EP following his 2-track November project, Granny Loves You.
Collard Greens, exclusively produced by Still Jerrod, is an incredibly fitting title for this project and so is the timing of its release. Every sound, from the rich instrumentation and classic soul samples to the inescapable nostalgia you feel in the opening skit, sticks to your ribs like your grandma’s soul food — just in time for the holidays.
With the production dripping in genuine southern vibes and elite musical quality, the stage was set for an old soul like Midrange Meats to show out. Meats put his foot in every track starting with the intro, “The Order” — a ‘warm up’ that would shame most rappers. He then walks all over the jazzy beat featured in the title track before linking up with the project’s only feature, Dool3y the Legend, on “Hoe Cakes”. Meats follows that by wrapping up yet another masterful memoir on wax with his final two tracks, “Sweet Tea” and “Red Velvet Freestyle”.
