— Compton rapper Buddy announces his forthcoming album, Superghetto, with the release of his latest single, “Wait Too Long”.
Since the deluxe release of his critically-acclaimed 2018 album Harlan & Alondra and his subsequent joint project Janktape, featuring fellow LA rapper Kent Jamz in 2020, Buddy has been on a brief hiatus. Aside from a few features on Dreamville’s Return of the Dreamers III and features with other respected talents like Tinashe, Smoke DZA, and Guapdad 4000, the West Coast-native has been gearing up for quite the return. Now, the wait is finally over as Buddy announces his sophomore album with his brand new single, “Wait Too Long”, featuring R&B virtuoso Blxst.
“Wait Too Long” is built on enchantingly sultry, yet bouncy, production courtesy of producers Gio and Hollywood Cole. The production set the perfect tone for the romantic nature of the track while also ensuring that you’d be able to dance to it after a few drinks on a Friday night. With Blxst deploying his buttery vocals to deliver an undeniably catchy hook and Buddy telling an all too relatable story using his incredibly riveting flow and lyrics, “Wait Too Long” is a bonafide hit perfect for the imminent weather change.
“Wait Too Long” arrives with the announcement of Buddy’s forthcoming sophomore album, Superghetto, along with an accompanying Obsidian-directed music video. The visual for the soulful R&B-infused track follows Buddy and Blxst as they face the aftermath of a romantic and fun-filled party from the previous night.
On Superghetto, set to release on March 25th, Buddy is expected to continue his uniquely eclectic sound, utilizing his unusual blend of experiences and influences to tap into a wide swath of moods as diverse and expansive as the Los Angeles area itself.
