— Atlanta-based lyricist, Troy Fayola, shares a powerful freestyle and video in honor of Women’s History Month.
Just over a month ago, rapper Troy Fayola dropped her debut single, “I LOVE YOU GREG (FEEL IT IN YA SOUL)”, in honor of all of the Black men whose lives have been cut short due to preventable circumstances. As powerful as that track is as a debut single, Troy Fayola continues to set the tone as she delivers her Women’s History Month tribute in the form of a dynamic a capella freestyle.
Consisting of everything from a compelling flow to enlightening bars, Troy Fayola used elements of both her spoken word and Hip-Hop backgrounds to craft an insightful verse and deliver a captivating performance.
The video, shot by Simo Haier Visuals, further honors the Black women that Troy references as she performs in front of an incredible Black woman-inspired mural in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood — painted by Atlanta’s own Ashley Dopson.
The mural showcases prominent Black women within Atlanta’s historic West End community who have been unsung heroes in civil and social rights activism. The women portrayed include Cleta Winslow, Janice Sikes Rogers, Abiodun Henderson, Ayana Gabriel, Hattie Gwinn Watkins, Pearl Cleage, Lottie Watkins, Irene Dobbs Jackson, Woody Persons, Arianna Sykes, and Kiyomi Rollins.
