— Rap superstar and budding actor, Quavo, prepares to star in feature-length action thriller film, Takeover, after Quality Films announces a new partnership.
Entertainment content and technology house, Trioscope have announced that it has greenlit a new feature-length action thriller, Takeover, in partnership with Quality Films (the expanded film unit of premier music management and Hip-Hop mega-label Quality Control), and Atlanta-based film financing group Georgia Production Finance.
Starring multi-talented actor and entertainer, Quavo, the film will be written by acclaimed and world-renowned action screenwriter Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive, The Vikings), a longtime Trioscope collaborator who wrote the World War II animated drama The Liberator (Netflix), and Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy). The film will be directed by Trioscope Chief Creative Officer Greg Jonkajtys, director of The Liberator.
Takeover will be the first among a robust slate of co-produced scripted projects that taps into QC’s massive roster of artists using Trioscope’s proprietary, imaginative style of animation. Set and filmed in Atlanta, a hotbed of the street takeover car culture, Takeover will underscore the fascination and controversy surrounding “sideshows,” which will be brought to life by fusing live-action performances with animation.
Atlanta-native Quavo, who’s had roles in Atlanta, Black-ish, and Wash Me in the River will play Guy Miller — a recent parolee who’s attempting to rehabilitate his life, when circumstances propel him back into Atlanta’s thriving and dangerous takeover scene. Subsequently, he’ll have to live up to his reputation as a shrewd street operator in a lethal race against time.
In addition to statements from Trioscopes’ CEO and the President of Quality Films, Quavo has stated,
“I’m really excited for this opportunity, especially shooting in my hometown of Atlanta. This film is an ideal opportunity to further delve into my craft, and I can’t wait to see how the action plays out in this animated environment.”
The film – which will soon offer innovative ways for fans to participate – will be produced by L.C. Crowley, Brandon Barr and Greg Jonkajtys for Trioscope Studios; Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas and Brian Sher for Quality Films; Jeb Stuart for Real Folk Productions; Don Mandrik fro Georgia Production Finance; Quavo for Huncho Films alongside Jen McDaniels.
With so much talent and infrastructure being shared across all parties, it will be great to see what comes from this elaborate partnership. Until then, stay tuned for more updates on what’s to come.
