After being in the game for 20 years, Pusha T continues to elevate his career. His most recent album, It’s Almost Dry, will debut this week at number one on the Billboard Hot 200.
While he has had multiple group and solo projects that have been subject to critical acclaim, he has never had an album top the charts — the closest being My Name is My Name (2013) reaching number four and Daytona (2018) reaching number three. It’s Almost Dry is projected to sell over 55,000 equivalent units after its first week.
Pusha’s late-career success is refreshing to see in Hip-Hop. He has always been himself and maintained authenticity despite a climate that features songs that pander to trends and outside pressures. While charts do not necessarily define an album’s full quality, Pusha T soaring to number one is a massive win for Hip-Hop.
