— Injury Reserve came through The Loft in Atlanta, GA last Saturday and put on an intense show amidst a sea of incredibly moved fans.
Hip-Hop group, Injury Reserve, is just about as experimental as it gets in the world of Hip-Hop and their latest album, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, might just be the most eccentric project in their catalog. Still, these guys don’t miss and their supreme artistry is greatly appreciated despite suffering the loss of their beloved group member, Jordan Alexander Groggs (AKA Steppa J. Groggs), before the album’s release. Nonetheless, the group has been tearing through North American venues one by one before taking their tour abroad and when they came to Atlanta, they absolutely showed the city love.
In front of an energized crowd, producer Parker Corey and rapper Ritchie with a T, manned their positions and held each other down song after song as fans cheered, screamed, and sang along until the very last note was played.
Along with the trippy sonic experience that one would assume is standard for an Injury Reserve concert, the visual elements of the show were just as intense, if not more. Ritchie and Parker were both buried behind thick clouds of smoke only allowing onlookers to make out silhouettes of the group for the most part. Combined with blinding strobes and colorful lighting that painted the stage and everything on it, the result was an unmatched vibe.
The tour has been supported by fellow Hip-Hop acts AKAI SOLO and Armand Hammer and will conclude its North American leg on May 26th in Philadelphia before performing at the Pitchfork Festival on July 17th. The International tour starts on June 16th in Perth, Australia and will on November 25th in Budapest.
