— After going on a remarkable streak of trunk-shaking singles, rapper My Favorite Color changes the pace with his latest work, “Cut Me In”.
A rising artist with undeniable talent, My Favorite Color reveals a new shade of his artistry with every release. Just last month in fact, he released “Dead It” alongside a colorful music video and received great responses. This time around, he slows down the tempo with his latest single, “Cut Me In“.
A pleasant change of pace from recent singles that showed off the artist’s manic and lyrical side, “Cut Me In” is languid and introspective, layering atmospheric synths atop trap-style percussion. Rather than attacking the beat, My Favorite Color sits back, finessing the contours of the instrumental with warbling melodies. The song finds the artist using a defiant, yet exhausted sigh as he confronts gatekeepers and two-faced friends alike.
The immersive “Cut Me In” follows in the wake of singles like the sardonic “Frustrated”, which racked up over 400k views and the aforementioned “Dead It”.
My Favorite Color is currently hard at work on his next project, a wide-ranging effort that properly continues the story he started with 2020’s Velma.
