— The Tupac Shakur – Wake Me When I’m Free Exhibit has announced their final LA run with programming including movie screenings, giveaways, and more.
Heralded by the likes of GQ, Rolling Stone, Complex, BET, Hypebeast, The New York Times, Associated Press, Washington Post, PBS, LA Magazine and more, theTupac Shakur – Wake Me When I’m Free exhibit has announced it will complete its residency in Los Angeles at the end of the summer 2022. The final day at The Canvas at L.A. Live (944 Georgia Street Los Angeles, CA 90015) will be Monday September 5, 2022 with a slate of new summer programming and promotions happening throughout the final weeks of show run.
Originally launched in January, the Shakur Estate-sanctioned exhibit has extended its run twice due to popular demand and seen a slate of overwhelmingly positive reviews and moving testimonies from celebrities, press, and fans alike. In an effort to give back and share Tupac’s legacy as an activist and artist with the youth of Los Angeles, the exhibit and estate partnered with LAUSD to offer free tickets to any public school groups (grade school, middle school, high school) and their chaperones for the remainder of the exhibit’s time in Los Angeles and has welcomed over 50 school groups through its doors since kicking off the initiative.
The exhibit has also announced summer programming and promotions happening throughout its final weeks. Every Monday at the exhibit, fans will receive a 10% discount if they show up in Tupac merch . During MLB’s All-Star Week in July, fans can show up to the exhibit in their favorite baseball team’s gear for a 10% discount. On Thursday August 11th, fans can attend Tupac Thursday with Rooftop Cinema Club; a special ticket bundle that allows fans to see a screening of Poetic Justice at Rooftop Cinema Club’s El Segundo location and includes a ticket to visit the exhibit. Tickets will be available through Rooftop Cinema Club’s website. As a way of continuing the give-back ethos, the exhibit will be hosting several community groups throughout July and August. If you would like to apply for free tickets for your 501(c)(3), email VIP@wakemewhenimfree.com. More programming and promotions will be announced in the coming weeks.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to share this experience with Los Angeles. We’ve been blown away by the support and couldn’t have asked for a better launch to the exhibit. I have been honored to be able to tell his story in an interactive, immersive format and we look forward to continuing to share his legacy and impact with more cities.” — Jeremy Hodges, Exhibit Creative Director / Founder of Project Art Collective
