— Last week we had the pleasure of joining the Cook Cabin crew on the first day of their latest 5-day session.

Since its inception, Cook Cabin has been an incredibly immersive experience allowing participating artists to hone in on their craft and churn out high quality music and collaborations that may never happen under normal circumstances — or so it seemed from afar. After spending a full day at the cabin and meeting the full roster of CC6 participants, we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s so much more.

Hosted at a secluded cabin in the North Georgia mountains, it was clear upon arrival that outside distractions would be non-existent. Greeted by Cook Cabin co-founder Dubbygotbars, it would become even more clear after walking through the front doors and receiving a brief tour.

First things first, the level of preparedness and attention to detail from top to bottom was impeccable. As you walk through the deceptively sizable cabin, you’ll come across Cook Cabin banners, group portraits, and custom postersnot to mention six incredibly intricate studio setups — that will make you believe that this is their own permanent recording studio.

In addition to the overall aesthetics and setup, the operations were as smooth as can be. A well thought out sign-up sheet kept things efficient as artists assigned themselves to certain producers and engineers during designated timeslots. Information thoroughly explaining publishing, royalties, and artist-producer splits at Cook Cabin were also extremely accessible, further exemplifying the professionalism and care put forth throughout the entire planning process.

As artists continued to arrive and get themselves situated, the in-house chef, Chef Sebas, kept everyone fed with amazing homemade sandwiches (or “sammiches” according to rapper and Cook Cabin attendee LiveHappi Barlos) before prepping for an incredible dinner later in the evening.

Once everyone arrived, Cook Cabin co-founders Dubbygotbars and Cashonable welcomed everyone to the 5-day experience, laid a few ground rules, and explained the schedule and workflow. From there, the party began.

As the time for the first session approached, you could feel the energy in the air as everyone began migrating to their designated studios. Not a moment was wasted as producers began playing beats for the artists in their sessions and even making a few beats on the spot.

After going from studio to studio, the beauty and rarity of the moment we were all a part of became even more apparent. The level of cohesiveness, comradery, and seamless collaboration we witnessed amongst a group of roughly 30 artists of varying styles and genres is nothing short of exceptional.

All in all, Cook Cabin is an experience like no other — no egos and no judgment with endless talent, creativity, and positive vibes all under one roof.
