— New York rapper Kota The Friend made a stop in Atlanta last month during his Flowers For My Friends Tour and put on an incredible performance at the prestigious Buckhead Theatre.
In case you didn’t know, Brooklyn-bred hip-hop artist Kota The Friend is by far one of the more impressive independent acts in today’s current landscape. Starting his own label and lifestyle brand FLTBYS after turning down multiple major label offers, Kota has powered and sustained his career on his own terms. Along with his work ethic and DIY attitude, Kota’s inspirational and introspective subject matter has helped him to cultivate a passionate fanbase — something that was on full display during his most recent concert in Atlanta.
This past October, during only the 4th stop of his Flowers For My Friends Tour, Kota The Friend came through Atlanta’s Buckhead Theatre. The venue was filled with an assortment of people representing a wide range of ages and ethnicities further exemplifying Kota’s embracing spirit and universal subject matter.
From the moment he hit the stage, Kota The Friend was locked in and so were his fans. Performing everything from his most notable tracks like “Colorado,” “B.Q.E,” “Pomegranate,” and “PENNYWISE” to some of his deep cuts from his acclaimed Lyrics To Go album series, Kota put on an absolute clinic. With little to no stage design, no hype man, or any additional gimmicks, Kota showed us what it looks like when you truly love what you do as he commanded the stage, masterfully performed his records, and kept his audience engaged from start to finish.
To close out the show, Kota The Friend brought a few of his most engaged fans on stage to perform his last song with him — a moment that they will remember forever.
