— Atlanta-based rapper K’moni takes some of today’s hottest instrumentals and makes them her own with the help of the one and only DJ Trael Tsunami.
Born in Milwaukee and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, talented wordsmith K’moni represents both the midwest and the south with pride and grace incorporating both regions into her sound. Releasing music since 2014, the talented newcomer only continues to outdo herself with every new drop as is clearly displayed with the release of her DJ Trael Tsunami-assisted mixtape “Aye Lemme Borrow Dat”, Vol.1.
Cleverly titled based on the fact that the project’s instrumentals are originally from prominent songs by well known artists — such as 21 Savage’s “redrum,” Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me,” and Beanie Siegel’s all-time classic “Feel It In the Air” — K’moni and DJ Trael Tsunami took us back to the prime of the mixtape era and absolutely did not disappoint. As DJ Trael Tsunami set the tone with empowering monologues, energizing ad-libs, and compelling charisma, K’moni came through and delivered scorching bars coupled with versatile flows and masterful execution throughout the 7-track project.
Quite frankly, choosing standout tracks from “Aye Lemme Borrow Dat”, Vol.1. is no easy task. The project is both so concise and cohesive, as well as such a truly enjoyable listening experience, that it deserves a full listen. In fact, after hearing it once, you’ll likely want to run the project back from top to bottom every time you play it.
