— After quite a long wait, Atlanta-based rapper, Ervin Mitchell, has finally released his third official album, Cudi Baby.

Those who are familiar with Atlanta’s underground Hip-Hop scene are sure to be familiar with Ervin Mitchell. As one of the brightest rising stars in the city, the versatile rapper has made quite the name for himself with his captivating music, compelling live shows, and refreshing relatability as he’s continued to increase his following. However, in preparation of his forthcoming album, Ervin Mitchell took a step back and locked himself in the lab, resurfacing periodically to keep his fans fed with singles like “Rain Dance”, “Abracadabra”, and most recently, “Gon Be”, alongside fellow Atlanta rapper Curtis Dro. Now, after dotting his “i’s” and crossing the “t’s”, Ervin Mitchell’s third album, Cudi Baby, has arrived.

Cudi Baby is a 20-track, hour-plus long album that undoubtedly quenches the thirst of any listeners who have been longing for it. Delivering his verses in a multitude of ways, Ervin Mitchell’s rare ability to effortlessly create unique flows and melodies was heavily showcased throughout this project. From one song to the next, he was able to jump in and out of different pockets, sometimes spitting an emphatic verse and other times crooning in an ‘R&B-esque’ manner.

The album’s previously released tracks include “Abracadabra”, “Break The Internet”, “Sunny”, “La La La”, “Quarterback”, “Only One”, and “Zendaya” — all released between 2019 and 2021. Despite the tracks being a bit older, hearing them within the flow of the album gave them new life and made for a different listening experience.

Features on Cudi Baby include some of Ervin’s most frequent collaborators and some fellow Atlanta underground Hip-Hop staples including J. Alston, Boregard., Promise NYC, Nico Annello, and The Letter M. With a brilliant showing of artistry and chemistry, each artist perfectly complemented both the production and Ervin’s contributions while also making their own presence known and deeply felt.

Aside from the album’s singles, some of the standout tracks include “Black Magic”, “First Six Weeks”, “Nothing is Impossible”, “Richie Cunningham”, and “Scrimmage”. The album’s outro, “Young Kanye”, is another special moment on the album. As a tribute to the living legend, Ervin Mitchell ends the track with a monologue similar to the one on Kanye West’s debut album, College Dropout.

With all things considered, Ervin Mitchell’s Cudi Baby was well worth the wait. Not only did he take the time to perfect his catchy hooks and bouncy delivery, but he also took the time to deploy his storytelling skills and deliver some introspective bars, allowing us to get to know him a little better.
