— Atlanta-based wordsmith, PremeHeem, serves up yet another lyrical masterpiece for his first official single of 2020 titled, “The Cook Up”.
While PremeHeem has been relatively inactive in regards to releasing new music, you certainly can’t say he hasn’t been working. From behind-the-scenes looks into private studio sessions, to his #PremeHeemFreestyles, and even an appearance on our very own ‘More Bars Please’ series, PremeHeem has been quite busy. However, he has now officially returned to the scene with “The Cook Up” — his first official release of 2020.
The track, produced by BeatsInMyBackPack, opens up with a soulful vocal sample, setting the vibe just before PremeHeem steps in and gets to work. In fact, Preme wastes no time, boldly stating in the opening hook,
“You know I need you like I need my life together.
You know my recipe different, my dinner better.
I’m on the cookup. My competition stay shook up.
They put me on pedestal, but it’s funny, they never look up.”
He then goes on to reference a few low moments and lessons learned along the way as he elevates from his humble beginnings and vows to turn his “nothing to something”.
From production to lyricism to delivery, “The Cook Up” is a flawless track to say the very least. With heat like this in the vault, we can only hope that PremeHeem has more on the way. Until then, be sure to check out the full song right here, watch his ‘More Bars Please’ episode above, and follow PremeHeem on Instagram to stay up to date.
