— Leikeli47 has dropped her latest single “450” and announced a new album Lei Keli ft. 47 / For Promotional Use Only, her first since wrapping up her acclaimed beauty trilogy with 2022’s Shape Up.
The announcement comes alongside a new track, “450,” and with it, a video directed by Masood Ahmed that marks a major moment in her career; an unveiling of her trademark mask, revealing her face for the first time as she performs, exuding confidence over a pulsing, minimalist beat. Speaking about the track, Leikeli says,“450” is my declaration of commitment to the people and this art form. I don’t just love what I do, I’m in love with what I do; and there’s no stopping me. I’m just heating up.” The video, produced in collaboration with NIKE’s Jordan Brand, also doubles as a celebration of her part of the Jordan Brand family for four years.
Executive produced by Leikeli47 and Harold Lilly, the album features production from the core team behind the Beauty series, refining the sound while pushing it forward. The result is music that feels like a living, breathing organism, blending hip hop, house, and R&B beneath an unmatched vocal swagger. The album was mixed by Grammy Award-winner Neal Pogue (Outkast, TLC, Steve Lacy) and mastered by Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, etc.)
Lei Keli ft. 47 For Promotional Use Only marks Leikeli47’s first independent release, a fresh chapter for the LA-by-way-of-Brooklyn-by-way-of-Virginia artist, giving even more significance to the mask coming off. “It feels right. It’s time. The mask served its purpose, and now we move forward,” she explains. The album exudes feelings of a fresh start while retaining the magic of what has made 47 so special since the start of her career.
