— LA-based French-Korean singer, songwriter, and producer spill tab has officially released her latest single, “PINK LEMONADE,” along with an accompanying music video directed by Sweetiepie.
The new single marks the start of a new chapter in the spill tab’s career following her recent signing with Because Music and as she plans to release her debut album next year. “PINK LEMONADE” is spill tab’s first release since last year’s KLEPTO EP, which followed her run as support on Sabrina Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send tour and appearances at Rolling Stone’s Future of Music showcase and Kilby Court Block Party. Playfully blending angsty lyrics with crystalline melodic textures, grungy guitar chords, pitched-up vocals, and a jazzy backbeat, “PINK LEMONADE” captures the inescapable uncertainty of early adulthood via its effusive sonic treatment.
“‘PINK LEMONADE’ was made on a chaotic day at John’s back house studio. We took a 40-minute jam, cut it up, spliced it around, and used that as the foundation, adding more quirky guitar lines and unconventional drums. It’s fitting because the song is about feeling discombobulated in life — feeling disconnected from my body, anxious, and wanting to escape into the cracks of the couch.” — spill tab
The accompanying music video brilliantly captures the essence of being a musician, depicting spill tab being pursued by a rambunctious and unrelenting symphony. Present from the moment she wakes up in her house, the music follows her as she makes her way through her day, traveling across Los Angeles in an overpacked pickup truck. The clip ends with her realization that the only remedy for the cacophony is to become a participant, as she gleefully adds to the ensemble.
