— Detroit’s ghettotech standardbearers HiTech (the trio of King Milo, Milf Melly, & 47Chops) have just released a new single and video “SHADOWREALM” via Loma Vista Recordings.
Arriving on the heels of their previous single “SPANK!” (which was named Best New Music by Pitchfork), “SHADOWREALM” hits the asphalt firing on all cylinders, with its breakneck tempo augmented by a resolutely raunchy verse from fellow Detroit mainstay Zelooperz.
The video, directed by IGoByCy (who also helmed the dizzying “SPANK!” video), deftly plays with the song title’s theme, employing viral shadow puppetry master Shadow Ace to add some reality-skewing visuals to an already hypnotic clip.
The audacious new song follows last week’s announcement that the trio will be bringing their singular spin on ghettotech, house, and hip-hop to the desert as part of 2025’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The booking is par for the course as notoriety of their high energy live shows continues to rapidly spread, including recent acclaim from MixMag, Wonderland, Clash, The Face, Notion, & Crack in the wake of their strong showing as support on the European leg of Nia Archive’s tour, as well as standout festival performances including Pitchfork Paris, Fifty Lab, and their own sold out show in London.
“SHADOWREALM” is a portent of much more to come from the trio as they work their way towards their highly anticipated HONEYPAQQ VOL. 1 project in 2025.
Listen to “SHADOWREALM” right here and be sure to follow HiTech and Zelooperz to see what they’ll be up to next.
